Introduction
Run Inspection LLC ("Run Inspection", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Run Inspection mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac and the website at https://runinspection.com (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over it.
By using the app or the website, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Who is responsible for your data
Run Inspection LLC is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected].
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the Service:
- Account information — your name, email address, and the sign-in identifier associated with your login method (email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google). If you use Sign in with Apple's private relay, we only receive the relay email address.
- Content you create — inspections, form field values, photos, signatures, client records, folders, and the PDF reports you generate. This content is stored on your device first and synced to our cloud backup so you can restore it and use it across your devices.
- Business/branding details — an optional company logo, inspector photo, and report branding you add to appear on your PDF reports.
- Subscription status — your plan (Free or Pro) and entitlement state. Purchases are processed by Apple; we do not receive or store your full payment card details.
- Device and diagnostics — device model, operating-system version, app version, a device identifier, crash logs, and usage/analytics events, used to keep the app reliable and to understand which features are used. In the app this is collected via Google's Firebase (Analytics and crash reporting).
- Website information — if you join the mailing list or use the contact form, we collect the email address and any details you submit. Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam. We measure website traffic with Plausible Analytics, which is cookie-free and does not track you across sites or build a personal profile.
- We do not intentionally collect special-category data (such as health or biometric identifiers). Signatures are captured and stored as images that are part of your inspection content, not used for identification.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- provide the Service — create, store, sync, and back up your inspections, media, clients, and reports;
- authenticate you and secure your account;
- process and manage your subscription and enforce plan limits;
- provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- send you service messages (for example, important account or security notices) and, where you have opted in, product news and launch updates — you can unsubscribe at any time;
- maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service, including analytics and crash diagnostics;
- detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues; and
- comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases for processing (EU/UK)
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the app, sync, backup, and manage your subscription.
- Legitimate interests — to secure the Service, prevent abuse, and improve our product through diagnostics and analytics, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — for marketing emails and any optional cookies/analytics that require it. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with the law.
Storage, sub-processors, and where data is processed
Your data is stored on your device and, when you use the Service, on our cloud infrastructure. We use the following categories of trusted service providers ("sub-processors"), who process data on our behalf under contractual and confidentiality obligations:
- Apple — App Store distribution, in-app subscription processing, and Sign in with Apple.
- Google — Sign in with Google; Firebase (app analytics and crash reporting); and reCAPTCHA on the website contact form.
- Cloudflare (R2) — cloud storage for your photos, signatures, and generated reports.
- DigitalOcean — hosting for our application backend and database.
- Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookieless website analytics.
- Run Inspection application servers — processing of website contact, feature-request, and mailing-list submissions.
- Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
Data retention
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete specific content, it is removed from your devices and our cloud within a reasonable period. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your associated cloud data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records to meet legal, tax, security, or fraud-prevention obligations. Data stored locally on your device is removed when you delete the app or sign out and wipe local data.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent for marketing or optional processing at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You can also delete your account from within the app.
EU/UK users: you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California users (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and encrypted cloud storage. Your account is protected by your login credentials, and the app additionally supports Face ID / Touch ID to lock the app on your device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Run Inspection is a professional tool intended for business use and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party sign-in and services
If you sign in with Apple or Google, that provider authenticates you and shares a limited identifier and (unless you use a private relay) your email with us. Your use of those services is governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date above. For material changes, we will provide additional notice by email or in-app message where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
